Swiggy has launched a new feature that allows users from 27 countries, including the US, Canada, the UK, Germany, Australia, and the UAE, to order food and products through its quick commerce service, Instamart, or book restaurant tables for family and friends in India. Starting October 25, 2024, international users can log in using their local phone numbers and make payments with international credit cards or available UPI options. This feature offers access to various services, such as food delivery, Dineout, Genie, and Instamart, as the company seeks to strengthen connections during the festive season.

“Food and gifts are essential to family gatherings, especially during festivals,” stated Phani Kishan, Co-founder and Chief Growth Officer of Swiggy. “With International Login, those living abroad can now surprise their loved ones on special occasions.”

The highly requested feature by non-resident Indians (NRIs) will also include a new gifting layout, making it easier to send festive gifts or make dinner reservations back home.

Founded in 2014 and based in Bengaluru, Swiggy partners with nearly 200,000 restaurants across more than 600 cities in India. Its Instamart service operates in 43 cities, delivering groceries and essentials across over 20 categories in about 10 minutes.

In unrelated news, Swiggy recently submitted its draft papers for a ₹3,750 crore Initial Public Offering (IPO) on September 26, 2024. This IPO features a fresh issue of 37.5 million equity shares with a face value of ₹1 each, along with an offer for sale (OFS) of 185,286,265 equity shares. However, the company has reportedly lowered its valuation estimates for the upcoming IPO by 10-16% due to market volatility, according to Reuters.
